Hanging With My Boys

It's a pretty cool April Sunday morning. There are actually snow flurries outside the window as I type. I am snug and warm in the house with Ian and Elek. Michael and Madison are at church. Madison spent the night with my parents last night, Michael was up at 4:00 a.m. and headed to work before church. Took his church clothes with him to change into. Ian woke up at 7:45 a.m. and very scratchilly told me that his throat was sore and that his neck hurt. No church for us! That's exactly how my tonsillitis started and I'm praying that he'll be miraculously healed and be able to go to school tomorrow...IN JESUS NAME!

Elek is in his swing (his favorite place if someone's not holding him). Ian lying in the living room floor in a mountain of blankets and pillows writing a letter that I'm not allowed to read yet. Remy is sitting next to him. We praised the Lord this morning. Ian requested that I put on some worship music and we cuddled on the couch and sang and worshipped. I just put Cheeseburger Casserole in the oven. We'll eat it when Michael and Mad get home. I still need to cook the broccoli and cheese. My kids LOVE broccoli and cheese. I've got iTunes on and I'm listening to all my favorite Christian music...Jeremy Camp, Aaron Shust, Selah, Third Day, Casting Crowns, etc.

It has been such a peaceful morning.

Thank you Father for the gift of my boys and quiet times that we get to spend together. Bless Michael and Madison's ride home from church, keep them safe in Your hand. Lord I ask you to bless everyone reading this today. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Words Escape Me

IHOP = BLECH

So we went to IHOP last night to try their Who-cakes. Apparently yesterday was the day the ran out of everything. First the kids ordered the Dr. Seuss drink or whatever it was. They were out of it. Michael ordered cheese sticks, they were out of marinara sauce to go with it. I ordered nachos it was brought to me without onions or guacamole because guess what, they were out of both, but Michael's patty melt strangely had onions. Don't ask me. The who-cakes were without the rainbow sprinkles because once again they were out of them. Whatever.

Madison just ordered Who-cakes and Ian ordered They Mayor's Breakfast, which consists of a small stack of Who-cakes and green eggs and ham. He took one bite of the cakes and pronounced them "Who-butts". Said they tasted disgusting and he wasn't eating them. Proceeded to moan about how they tasted like Who-butts for 10 minutes. (I'm not sure how he knows what a who-butt tastes like. Boys and their bathroom humor.) He did eat the ham. The eggs he kind of picked at. Wasn't too sure of the spinach that made them green. I don't think Madison cared much for the Who-cakes either, but she didn't complain. I just have quite a decent amount of them left over in the fridge.

Needless to say, I don't think we'll be going to the IHOP anytime soon.

Back to the Land of the Living

I actually left the house today! I haven't stepped one foot out the door since last Saturday (and that was only to go to the ER). I couldn't stand being cooped up anymore. Maddy, Elek and I picked up Manda and Xavier (Ian and Emilee were at school) and headed over to the fabulous new Wal-Mart Supercenter. I swear you could live in that place, kinda like the movie Where The Heart Is. Bought some juice, apples, Ian some mandarin oranges (his favorite) and Elek a new outfit. He's finally outgrown the Newborn size (not the shirts, but the pants are too short). Moved up into the big world of 0-3 months. Eh, he's only 3 months and 1 week old. Madison was so huge as a baby she never wore 0-3 months, went straight to 3-6 months. By 3 months old she was over 16 lbs. EJ goes to the doctor tomorrow for his 3 month well child visit so we'll see how big he is. I'd guess 11-12 pounds.

I'm still nowhere near 100%, more like 78%. Still coughing, ears still hurt, extremely tired. You get the picture. Sitting here waiting for Michael to get home with Ian. Maddy and EJ are asleep. Mads has softball practice tonight and we may venture to IHOP tonight for dinner. The kids have been dying to try the Whocakes.

And because I can't post without a photo or two.

Today marks a life-changing day for Angie and her family. I encourage you to stop over to her blog and read the powerful post she wrote last night, {"He"} on the eve of her infant daughter's birth. It is life-changing if you don't know what God can do in your life already. And reaffirming to those who do know the Truth and Hope that comes through knowing Christ and living in faith each day. My thoughts and prayers are with the Smiths and trust they are feeling contentment and Peace in their own hearts too.

Do Not Enter

I would suggest everyone stay away from me for several days. I am extremely sick. Ended up in the ER yesterday afternoon.

I woke up on Thursday with a sore throat didn't think much of it, I still felt okay. Friday, my throat hurt a bit worse, but I was still able to function. Friday night here comes the fever. Saturday morning, my throat hurts so bad I don't want to swallow and my ears are killing me. I was dizzy every time I stood up. Decided I needed to head to the ER. Michael dropped the kids off at my mom's and took me to Heritage.

I get there and they take my temp and it's 103.8 and they are not happy. My heart rate is pretty high too. The doctor looks in my throat and announces that I have severe tonsillitis and I have pus on my tonsils. Whoo hoo! Next he checks my ears and both of them are infected. He tells me I won't be able to leave until my fever goes down and they are able to get my heart rate down too. I am then given 800 mg. of Motrin, 975 mg. of Tylenol and a shot of Morphine for the pain. Pretty soon I am in a Morphine induced stupor and can barely keep my eyes open, but the pain in my throat has eased up and the nurse is now shoving fluids down my throat. The next time she takes my temp it's down to 102.9, not good enough to go home. My heart rate had dropped some though. Within a few minutes I am sweating profusely and know that my fever is dropping. The nurse takes my temp 15 minutes later and it is 98.4. She couldn't believe that it had dropped that fast. I receive my discharge instructions and prescriptions for a Z-Pack (Pretty much the only antibiotic I can take, I'm allergic to so many of them), Motrin 800 and Tylenol 3. I am also instructed to gargle salt water which feels like I am gargling razor blades.

I still feel pretty lousy. I am forcing myself to drink...it hurts horribly. Michael took the kids to church this morning and I'm just kind of lying around. Probably won't be on here too much the next few days. Hope everyone has a blessed week!
