Thankful Thursday

1. Cherry Raisinets
They are to die for. I love dried cherries to begin with, cover them in dark chocolate and I am one happy girl.

2. My kids are artistic and like to express themselves. Sometimes it's by drawing, other times it's the way they dress. I love that they don't feel that they have to be like everyone else. They are 100% individuals.

3. My cold/flu is going away. I'm not exactly sure what I had. It started Saturday afternoon with a sore throat and a fever. Then came the head congestion. I pretty much slept from 2 Saturday afternoon until about 6 Sunday evening. I still have a little bit of stuffiness and scratchy throat, but I know that I am on the mend.

4. I was totally thankful for the sun. It rained here Tuesday...all day. It was chilly too. Yesterday was sunny and warm and marvelous.

5. Happy that we are going to the apple orchard today. I love the apple orchard!

Pet Peeves

1. Air guitar. Don't do it. You look like a dork.
2. Hypocrites in any shape, form or fashion.
3. The smell of syrup. It is for this reason alone that I do not eat pancakes.
4. Open cabinets/drawers. Say it with me: “Open. Close. Open. Close.” Thank you.
5. Phone people. Especially you blue-toothers.
6. Red-light runners. Thought you could squeak through, did you? You could hit someone. Someone like me. And if my child is in the car when that happens, I will make you sorry.
7. People who toss cigarette butts on the ground. Who decided those weren't trash?
8. The expression, "I hate to say this, but..." If you really hated to say it, you wouldn't say it.
9. People who cough and/or sneeze without covering their mouth. EWWW.
10. People who use YOUR when they mean YOU'RE.
11. Poor grammar in general. Is it that difficult to learn the difference between its and it's? Or their, they're, and there? Like it or not, many people will make assumptions about your intelligence based on your writing skills.
12. Those voice-activated customer service lines.
CS: "How can I help you today?"
me: "Make a payment."
CS: "I think you said 'Keep me on this moronic call for an hour and a half and then disconnect my service.' Is that correct?"
13. I hate it when people say "literally" when they actually mean "figuratively"
Even newscasters do it a lot now.
"The man literally exploded with rage"
No he didn't, otherwise all that would be left of him would be little chunks of goo scattered around...
14. Suburbanite kids who think they’re gangsta.
15. People who DEFINATELY can't spell. It's definitely definitely.
16. Noisy neighbours with barking dogs that I wish would disappear.
17. When people mispronounce EASY words i.e. the word "axe" as in "let me axe you a question"
18. People who throw used diapers in the parking lot after changing their kid in a car.
19. When people don't listen to what I am saying, then make me repeat it when they hear me mention something that actually interests them.
20. Any celebrity who feels that it is in their duty to tell me how to think, feel, act, vote, or live. We are all different. Unless you understand that and just deal with that, then you will never really know what tolerance is.

Thankful Thursday

♥Today I am thankful for my fabulous new bubble bath. It smells amazing and has the most amazing bubbly foam ever.♥

♥Thankful that my kids go to a performing arts school where they believe that the arts are important to an education. I am a firm believer in this also.♥

♥Beyond blessed by my most awesome husband who tells me to go to bed when I am exhausted at 8:30 and that he'll make sure the kids get to bed.♥

♥I'm thankful for my job that I love, even though I complain and make it seem that I don't like it. :) I love those kids.♥

♥Totally thankful that the new TV season started this week. Yes, I'm superficial like that.♥

Cell Phone vs. Bible

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible?

So remember this...

You'll never have dropped calls and unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.

But most important of all...you'll never have to ask Him 'Can you hear me now?'

Just Thinking About...

Sleep...
I am so deprived!

My To Do List...
It's 2 pages long!

My Quiet Time...
How I long for a little more of it!

Discipline...
I don't remember it being that hard to listen the first time?

Cleaning...
My house has been neglected
but...
The garage is spotless.

My Family...
Thank you God!
I couldn't imagine life without them.

Thankful Thursday

Decided that I'm going to post 5 things I'm thankful for every Thursday. Thinking it will do me some good to remember even the small things I've been blessed with.

♫ I'm thankful that I now have more time to spend with Elek during the day. I cut back my hours at work and love being able to hang out and cuddle more.

♫ I love that we're over a week into the school year and so far no one has been a grouch in the morning.

♫ Thankful that Sonic is still carrying my "limited time only" Diet Sparkling Lemonade.

♫ Beyond thankful that Ian met a neighbor who has quickly become his best friend. They share a mutual love of skateboards and BMX.

♫ Thankful that I had some girl time with my BFF, Meaghan. Megs moved to Delaware in May and I have been missing her like crazy. She's back visiting and we went out on Saturday and treated ourselves to Manicures, Pedicures and dinner.

So what are you thankful for?

A Bit of Nonsense About a Sock

Here you sit, with 29 other single friends. Once part of a perfect pair, now you are all outcast members of apparel.

You show off your individual characteristics: stripes, labels, patterns longing (like a teenage girl) for the day when you will find your perfect mate.
Confusion sets in as you try to recall how you ended up in this predicament. You made it to the laundry room, but somehow became separated during the endless spinning and tumbling. Did your mate get somehow lodged behind the machines or did he get pulled through the dryer vent into some unknown abyss?

You wait and hope that during the course of the day your counterpart will be found unharmed (accidental bleaching is the worst), but as the sun begins to set you feel the dread of knowing your fate will soon be sealed and you will end up in "the drawer".

The drawer of lost socks, never (perhaps more like rarely) to be appreciated again. There you will wait until in a chance encounter some child who is late and running out the door will just grab two of you and head to school. The shame will be great as one of you will sag and the other will barely fit on the child who carelessly grabbed you. You might not even be the same color or pattern.... the embarrassment.
Yours is a cautionary tale of companionship lost, of a once useful life left to whither away on a ledge instead of the once adored smelly tennis shoe.

Today

Dear Life,

I complain when you are boring...
I complain when you are busy...
What does that make me?

A complainer.

I love being a busy mom...
But I am fond of breathing too.
Why can't I make up my mind?

Signed,
Not really complaining...
Maybe Whining
Just a little

Dear Complainer Whiner,

You know you love every minute of it.

Just take deeper breaths.
*sigh*

Signed,
Life

Back To School

Okay, so it's seriously hard for me to realize that my babies are in 8th grade and 5th grade. When did they grow up? And really, only another year until I am the parent of a high schooler. I'm not ready.

There's more pics of Maddy because Ian is far too cool for me to take pictures of him. Maddy on the other hand loves it and poses for as long as I'm willing to take them.
