Tired, But Realized I Hadn't Blogged Today

#4 it is! It's ready to be mailed in tomorrow.

A new self-portrait of myself.

I HATE the way I look in photos.

Tomboys can still look cute!

I added to the pesto wall today.

That's all folks. It's bedtime.

It's My 200th Post on Blogger!

Which has nothing to do with what I'm posting!

On the recommendation of a friend I'm entering Elek in the Wyandotte Street Fair Beautiful Baby Contest. Not sure if he'll win, but thought it was worth the try. Yes, I think he's gorgeous, will other people? Who knows?

My problem is that I can't decided what photo I want to send in with the entry form. Here's where you come in. I need you to pick which of the following photos you like best and post a comment with the number in it. I want EVERYONE to comment...even you lurkers. :)

Pesto for Pat

Here is my living room wall color... I straightened that photo right after I took the photo. Didn't stay straight long though, the stairs are on that wall and Ian came barreling down within minutes!

Different Day, Same Lunch

So I'm on this kick. I've eaten the same thing for lunch for 8 days now. It's delicious and I love it and I'm going to keep eating it until I get sick of it. (Actually today I have to eat the rest of the white chicken chili I made on Monday or it's going to go bad.)

It's a toasted pita (thank the Lord for toaster ovens, I love mine.) with a tiny bit of pesto, melted fresh mozzarella, green onions and tomatoes and it's FABULOUS. I'm out of green olives, but I highly recommend putting them on too. It's also best if you serve it in a kid's blue plastic plate.

The Coolest Thing I've Seen In A While

I thought that I'd try to make it a point to blog once a day for the summer. It's harder than I thought it would be. Suddenly blogging feels like a challenge. Although now that I think about it, it has been a challenge for some time. I guess after 3 years of blogging I may be running out of topics. Oh sure, I could always come up with something to complain about. (Complaining is something that comes very easy for me.) I could post zillions of photos of my kids, but I'm sure everyone would be sick of that pretty quickly. Anyways, I'll just trying to write what's on my mind. Can't say that it will be anything great...lol.

Ian is apparently moving in with my parents. Except for the 2 second conversation we had yesterday morning, I've not seen or heard from him. I'm sure my parent's are enjoying him. He's my easy going kid. When he's by himself you really don't know he's around. He finds stuff to do and keeps himself occupied. If he's hungry he'll make a sandwich for himself. It's not like when pick butt Maddy is hungry. She always wants something cooked. Heaven forbid she eat a sandwich.

Speaking of Maddy, she is lying on the couch like the Queen of Turpinland reading a book. That's pretty much been the extent of her summer so far. She has ventured as far as her room to watch some TV or get a new book. We dare not ask her to do anything though. Yesterday I asked her to put some of Ian's clean laundry away (because Ian wasn't home and the miserable teething monster was screaming) and she honestly said to me "Why should I it's not mine? No one does anything for me." Ha! I swear I wanted to take her out. Kinda like that whole Bill Cosby "I brought you into this world, I can take you back out" thing. I'm not sure who she thinks she is anymore, but I do know that I will not tolerate it. As for no one doing anything for her...her all-star uniform is costing no one $60, she has practice 3 times a week that no one drives her to, she has classes at Truman starting the beginning of July that no one is taking her to, no one did her laundry, no one made her breakfast, lunch and dinner, etc, etc.

Okay, see, I told you I was good at complaining. I just totally did what I didn't want to do.

I love Maddy, I would give my life for her. She has brought immeasurable amounts of joy to my life. She's brilliant. Scary smart. She's bubbly (well not with us too much anymore. We're just her parents.) and full of life. She loves Jesus with her whole heart. Her teachers have all loved her. They have always told us what a wonderful person she is and that she is super helpful. In fact, at Mad's 5th grade graduation a few weeks ago, her kindergarten and 1st grade teacher (same person) came up to me and told me of all the students she has ever had, Maddy was her all time favorite. I was so blessed by those words. Makes me realize that I'm doing something right. Even though Madison is in the throes of puberty and all the nastiness that that entails, she's still my same Maddy Beth, the one who had the squeaky voice and wore that blasted pink and white tutu everywhere she went. Man, I love that kid.

Things I've Already Done Today 10:08 a.m.

1. Made Elek's breakfast. Rice cereal with bananas and bottle of formula.
2. Got Elek out of bed. Realize when I pick him up that he has already pooped.
3. Change poopy diaper.
4. Feed EJ.
5. Snuggle with EJ.
6. Got Madison up. She's been sleeping late and staying up later. Was up until 1:00 a.m. last night and woke me numerous time informing me that she couldn't sleep.
7. Got some things together to scrapbook. I haven't really scrapbooked in a year and need to get some things done. I at least want to catch up on Mad and Ian's school books. I plan on scrapping tonight.
8. Made Mad and I breakfast. Williams sausage patties (I eat 1 and it's 4 points on WW, yes, I'm trying to lose weight again...it's the story of my life.)
9. While sausage is cooking I decided that I need to wipe down my cupboards. Using vinegar and water and magic eraser I begin.
10. Knock super hot electric skillet into the floor while wiping cupboard. Somehow manage to jump back quick enough as to not fry my feet with hot grease.
11. Pick skillet out of the floor, lots of grease splattered on floor. Sigh.
12. Mop kitchen floor, twice. I still see grease marks, will be mopping again.
13. Talked to Ian. He spent the night with Grammy and Papa. "Mom, is Dad out of town." "Yes, he is." "May I spend the night again?" (He actually uses may and not can.) "Did Gram say it's okay?" "Yes." "Okay then, you can stay." (I use can.) "Okay, goodbye."
14. Breakfast is cold. Yum.
15. Talked to Mom.

Still need to...

1. clean out fridge.
2. do several loads of laundry.
3. vacuum.
4. feed ej several times.
5. play with ej.
6. take madison to all-star practice.
7. cook dinner.
8. pick madison up.
9. read my bible.
10. go to bed.

Out on the Town With My Boys

Madison went to work with Michael today so it's just me and the boys. We're about to head out. Not really sure where we're heading to. I may stop at Joann's, they're having a scrapbook paper sale...6 sheets for 96 cents, can't beat that! Thinking that I'll pick up lunch and eat at Bishop Park. I'm thinking Ian will like it. Elek likes to be outside, so I'm pretty sure he'll be fine with it.

Gotta go, Ian's getting impatient.

Meet Polka Dot Turpin aka Dot

Actually she's Polka Dot II as Polka Dot I died within 36 hours of bringing her home! Not a good thing let me tell you.

Madison got Dot as a 5th Grade graduation present. Dot is a Roborovski Hamster. She is extremely cute and super tiny.

Please pray that this one lives!

Whoa...

Somehow, over eleven years has passed since I first met this soul…

Seriously? HOW!!

At first motherhood was such an uncomfortable suit to wear. But it grew on me and became my skin. I wouldn’t know who I was without the lessons she has taught me. I’m such a different person than I would be without the lessons she taught me as we’ve taken this journey. It took more patience and selflessness than I thought I could ever muster. And more self-restraint. Not because she’s a difficult child… quite the opposite! But parenting is crazy. It’s been an amazing journey at each turn.

The latest turn, one I was really not expecting, is finding out that this girl is really, really funny. She’s always had a great sense of humor and been quite clever, but now her humor is real…not kid humor, but stuff that I find myself laughing at as if she was a peer. What a fabulous surprise!

I’m really hoping that the upcoming journey to middle school is full of only fabulous surprises… :)

(Photos taken at Madison's Elementary School graduation. Seriously, how do I have a kid that old???)

I Can't Think of a Title

I've been meaning to post for several days and just never got around to it. Didn't help that we didn't have power from 5:30 Sunday night until Tuesday around 3:30 in the afternoon. Thankfully my Mom and Dad let us crash at their house and we didn't have to suffer in 90 degrees without air.

I seriously don't have a lot to blog about. School is over tomorrow! Yeah! Ian actually finished today, but Maddy and I have a 1/2 day tomorrow. I'll miss my paychecks for the summer, but I will so not miss going to work everyday! I'll especially not miss some of the snotty kids. They have been sooooo bad lately. It amazes how awful some of these kids are. I feel sorry for them...kids only know what they see. Parents need to wake up. Yesterday they had the 5th grade graduation at work and I was shocked at what some of the girls were wearing! I'm talking 3 and 4 inch heels, make-up, hoochie dresses...Madison is the same age as these girls! I kept telling my friend Jen that Mad would be wearing stuff like that "Over my dead body." Crazy!

Today I worked at Ian's school's field day. I made 200+ bags of cotton candy before the motor went out on the machine. Can't say I was exactly sad that it went out. I was a sticky mess. It tastes good, but man, what a pain to make! Ian was glad to see me there and after I was relieved of my cotton candy duties I hung out with him for a while. He won his class "Chicken Throw" and "Noodle Throw." In the chicken throw they had to throw rubber chickens and in the noodle throw they threw pool noodles like javelins. Whoever threw the furthest was the winner. As Ian put it, "I'm a baseball pitcher so I know how to throw." Excuse me! :)

Enjoying some peace and quiet right now. Michael has the older two at church and Elek has been fairly miserable and is passed out and will probably be down for the count.

And because I can't post without them!
Ian's is the orange one.

Sweat man taking a break.

In honor of the Red Wings win last week Michael made me take this photo.

He's beginning to sit by himself. :(

Miss Thang wearing my glasses. Complained that she couldn't see anything out of them. I wonder why...my eyes are horrible!!!

Those gorgeous blue eyes melt me!
